Lee Todd believes referee Mike Dean cost Bradford City a point after he awarded a "dubious" late penalty against the left back late in Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Stockport.

The City new boy was judged to have bundled his former Stockport team-mate Brett Angell over with just three minutes remaining.

Tony Dinning slammed his second penalty of the game past Gary Walsh to sentence new-look City to defeat.

However, Todd was adamant he never touched the County striker, and claims Angell admitted this to him after the game.

He said: " A few of the lads said it could have been a foul on me seconds before the penalty. Then I put my foot there but, as far as I am concerned, I never even touched him.

"Brett knows that for a fact and I am sure he would tell you the same. I spoke to him after the game and he knew I never touched him, but I suppose, in his defence, he has to go down. However, it is very disappointing.

"I think all three penalties awarded were dubious. You have a situation where the referee is giving decisions from 40 yards away and the linesman is keeping out of it, despite being much closer."

The defeat was a bitter blow for the Bantams after Peter Beagrie's had brought them level with his first goal since November, 1994.

He celebrated with his customary somersault but said afterwards: "There are a lot of long faces round here at the moment, but that is a good thing. It hurts me to get beaten, so it is nice people share that feeling."
