Ilkley'S Billy Kerr had another excellent run last Wednesday, recording the second fastest time on the night (26.07) in the Harrogate Race League handicap at Ripon.

Fastest over the pleasant five mile course, which included both road and track, was Otley's Ian Fisher in 24.17.

Ilkley's other runners were Tim Ashleford (11th) in 28.07, Nick Pearce (16th) in 28.35, Graham Pearce (21st) in 29.05, Ken Souyave (34th) in 30.59, Pete Shields (48th) in 31.27, Eugene Doherty in 33.53, youngster Jason Thomlinson, Ilkley's first finisher in the handicap in 31.50, Andy Sarah 37.30, Brian Sweet 39.27 and Janet Souyave in 40.50.

On Saturday Bob Hamilton had a good run in the local Cowling Gala Fell Race, finishing 5th in 19.55, in this fast and furious three mile event. Nick Pearce finished 8th in 21 minutes.

Also on the fells Jason Helmsley is continuing in excellent form with 38th place in the Moel Siabod race, a British Fell Championship event, and Helen Johnson running strongly at Ingleborough, finishing 4th in her class.

Nick Pearce appears to have been the only Ilkley Harrier in the Harrogate Town 10K on Sunday, a Yorkshire Championship event. He completed the undulating course in a respectable 36.08.

On the social side, the next curry run will be on Friday August 7 at the Nazeeb, Clayton Lane, Bradford, with Richard and Joy Gray's summer run and barbecue now on Friday August 14 at Leathley.
