A pub which was suddenly closed by a national lottery winner was set to re-open last night.
The Woolpack Inn, in King Street off South Street, Keighley, suddenly closed last month after David McDermid - who won more than £250,000 on the lottery - was seen selling items from the pub to customers during the evening it closed.
The pub has now been taken over temporarily by local publican Michael McGiven. He will run the pub for the next three months with a view to taking on a permanent lease.
Mr McGiven, a former steward of the Aire Valley Social Club in Russell Street, Keigh-ley, says: "The Woolpack Inn will be open as normal and we are hoping to provide entertainment on at least two nights a week."
The McDermids, who scoo-ped £259,251 when they matched five numbers and the bonus ball in October 1995, said that Mr McDermid had to give up work through ill health. At the family home in Bracken Road, Ingrow, last month his wife June told the Keighley News that her husband had a bad back and had been advised by his doctor to give up work.
