PROLIFIC wicket taker Travis Rowe led Pool to another victory - this time over village rivals Pool Mills - as the Arthington Lane side are fairly charging towards the Division Two title and susbsequent promotion.

Australian Rowe bagged another eight wickets - his third eight wicket haul in a month - as Mills were put out for 104 with only David Hardaker with 29 and Darren Lyons with 26 showing any resistance as Rowe picked up 8-41.

Mills provided a shock for their neighbours with the early dismissal of Paul Henry and Tracey Mahoney and Pool were 8-2 .

However, Richard Bolton and David Murphy brought about a recovery and with Bolton crashing an unbetaen 55 and Murphy an unbeaten 38 they gained an eight wickets win.

Otley Town continued their promotion push with a fourth successive win when they met New Rover.

The home side was restricted to 147-9 with Kafiat Hussain taking 3-29.

Town knocked off the runs with just three wickets down with Hussain again playing a leading role with an unbeaten 49. Bernard Thornton contributed 32 and Tony Smith 36 not out.

Town are now in second place 22 points adrift of Pool but 19 points ahead of third placed Colton.

Olicanians drew with Garforth who made 248-7 with only Mick Fletcher getting among the wickets with 3-67.

As Olicanians replied with 166-8 skipper Adrian Cowgill top scored with a fine 72.

In Division One defending champions Esholt were restricted to 190-7 as Carlton's Kevin Watson took 4-60.

Starring with the bat for Esholt was Atsham Jubbar who made a well crafted 119.

Carlton however went on to win with Keith Sampson striking 59 and Kevin Watson an unbeaten 42.

Pool's village second team derby took place last weekend at Arthington Lane. Table topping Pool's skipper Steve Winterburn lost the toss and was asked to bat by the Mills stand-in skipper Keith Brattley.

Paul Huby was caught at point early on which left Martin Towers and Steve Wood at the crease. They took the score on to 74 before Towers was clean bowled by Daniel Emsley. In came Julian Davey and between them they built a superb partnership of 122, with Wood in spectacular form.

Unfortunately he just missed out on his century by being caught and bowled by Daniel Emsley four runs short on 96. Davey went on to the close with an unbeaten 46 and Pool's total for the Mill to chase ended on 222 -5.

The Mill's batting just was not strong enough against Pool's bowling attack. After dismissing Clews very early on there was only Bielby (33) and Keane (17) who really contributed.

After Andrew Emsley was run out by some speedy fielding from Paul Wilkinson and Clive Singleton, Pool Mills were on 89-6 and from then on the shutters came down to try and salvage a couple of points.

Clive Singleton had other ideas however with yet another excellent bowling spell of 4-17 off11 overs. Davey, Winterburn and Khan shared the rest with Winterburn taking the last wick

et assisted by the wicketkeeper, Justin Parsons, who took three fine catches in the match.

With nine overs remaining, Pool Mills could only manage a total of 127, which gave Pool maximum points to keep them on course for the title.

Olicanian Seconds were at home to Garforth and were inserted after again losing the toss. After a brisk start in which Pete Blackwell dominated, wickets soon began to fall, the first two when the score had reached 19 with the third falling at 29. There was then a slight recovery when Peter Spivey joined Blackwell to take the score to 59 before Blackwell, after again batting very well hit a full toss to mid-wicket and was gone for 45. Wickets now fell very regularly and the Olicanian were bowled out for 89 with one over remaining with only Toby Elkington joining Pete Blackwell in double figures with 10. For Garforth, A Wadeley was superb, capturing six for 28 in 25 overs, five of the wickets being bowled out. He was well supported by Ken Leather with 3-44.

Garforth made very hard work of hauling in the 90 they needed as the Olicanian bowlers adapted well to their task. Wickets fell regularly after Brian Cheeseman's brilliant run out of opener F Pert had set the ball rolling. Garforth eventually reached their target in the 40th over after the loss of seven wickets (so at least giving Olicanian a point) with Mat Sugden top scoring with 36 and C Wright getting 19. For Olicanian Rod Dewhurst returned 3-37 and Toby Elkington 3-16.
