Keighley Women's Centre has been given a second grant from the town's Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) to cover six months' running costs.
The centre offers a range of services to local women including counselling, legal advice, complementary therapies, assertiveness training and nutrition. Staff hope to find other other funding sources to secure their long-term future once the grant runs out.
The centre moved into a new headquarters on Skipton Road last year with the help of £130,447 in grants from English Partnerships and the SRB. The centre then asked SRB bosses for £22,788 to cover its 1998 running costs but was given only half the amount. The SRB partnership board agreed to give the other half if centre staff could show they were trying to find alternative long-term funding.
