Bingley may be miles from the coast but for one day only it will become Bingley-on-Sea. Twelve tonnes of fine grade sand have been ordered by Old White Horse Inn manager Bill McDermont for the special beach extravaganza.
His wacky plan is to cover the entire courtyard, an area of about 50 to 60 square yards, and turn it into the "Bingley Riviera". And the proceeds will go towards the Telegraph & Argus Millennium Scanner Appeal.
Bill said: "It will be a day everyone will remember. I just thought we ought to do something different and this was my idea. I don't think Bingley has ever had a beach in its history but it will do on August 30. It will be like St Tropez!"
