Athletics: The English fell running title will be decided on Sunday at Sedbergh Cumbria. Bingley's Ian Holmes, who has already landed the British title this season intends to run, and a top-four place would be enough to secure the English crown as well.
Simon Booth of Borrowdale currently leads the standings after five races with 116 points, but if Booth doesn't win outright, a top-eight finish would be sufficient for Holmes.
Although the Bingley man should be the pre-race favourite, the course is classed as long, at 14 miles, with 6,000 feet of ascent, and Holmes may be feeling the effects of a heavy race schedule in recent weeks.
Robert Jebb, hopefully over his food poisoning, is in second place overall, with Bingley team-mates Mark Kinch in seventh and Steve Hawkins eighth.
Keighley and Craven's women are pushing Keswick for the English team title, and Karen Slater and Jo-Anne Prowse are also in the hunt for individual honours. Slater is second overall and leading veteran over 40, and could win both titles, as could Prowse if she wins Sunday's race.
The Yorkshire Veterans' Track and Field Championships take place at South Leeds Stadium on Sunday.
Bingley will be heartened by the news that some of their top runners are in the national 10k rankings. Keith Anderson, a prolific fell runner before turning to the roads, is currently ranked top male 40 runner with his 30-02 time at the Vale of Leven in June.
In the over-55 section, Les Haynes, with his 34-05 at Eastleigh is ranked first and Fred Gibbs, 34-38, is third.
Princess Mary's track at Cleckheaton is the venue on Saturday for the North of England Inter-Club Championships.
Representatives from 12 clubs will be competing, including Spenborough. Bingley's men received news this week that they had been promoted from Division 3C as champions.
Team captain Dave Benson was informed that, although they had tied with Salford on both league and match points, they had clinched it on the number of outright event wins.
