Ilkley and District Motor Club has won the Larkspeed League championship for an unprecedented fourth successive year and there are still two rounds of the championship to go.
The ten round competition is contested by over 20 clubs in Yorkshire and ilkley have an outstanding record having now won 11 times overall since the event was inaugurated in 1972.
Ilkley's round of the championship was held at a venue near Bolton Abbey and the Yorkshire Post Trophy production car trial attracted 41 entries.
Clerk of Course Adrian Tate had set out ten sections which were to test the drivers throughout the day as conditions altered, firstly due to a prolonged spell of light rain and then as the field dried out.
Forty sections were completed in all and Secretary of the Meeting Alistair Tullie had the results finalised by just around 4 pm.
At the end of an excellent day the Ilkley club produced the top five overall places with John Harris in the Mercedes 230TE taking an unexpected overall win and completely dominating his class.
There were 27 entries in the hotly contested Class 0 for unballasted cars and Henry Kitching (MG Metro) had an outstanding day winning the class and finishing second overall.
Larkspeed team captain Jamie Forrest in the Corsa diesel turbo also had an excellent day finishing second in class and third overall.
David Mosey completed the hat-trick in the Mini 1100 taking third in class and fourth overall.
David's wife Adele took the Novice Award and Ilkley's Car Competitions Secretary Karen Spencer, sharing the Clan Crusader with her father, took the ladies' award.
The remaining events are the autotests meeting organised by YSCC and the York Motor Club sprint in September.
Regs are now available for Ilkley's Jubilee Historic Rally on Sunday, September 13, starting at Pool Mills SC at 9 am. Many of the cars will be on view for an hour before the start.
The event, sponsored by the Classic Car group of Otley, is a round of the ANWCC, North of England and HRCR Speedsport Design Clubman's Historic Rally Championship. Regs can be obtained from Henry Kitching on 01943 463542 (buisness).
