I HAD some real mixed feelings after last Friday's draw with Swinton Lions.
I was proud of the lads for having come back from what looked like a lost situation to snatch a draw, but also I was very disappointed that we had put ourselves in that situation in the first place.
Our one big drawback was that we didn't have a real cutting edge in their 20m area. We have to learn how to break opposing teams down when we have them under pressure.
They only had two chances in the first half and they took them both. With the amount of possession we had we should have been miles ahead, instead of having to come back from behind.
The one thing you won't hear from me is any criticism of Jamie Benn. He has played three games and has had two good ones with the boot.
Every kicker has and off day, and as a kicker myself I know that only too well.
The one thing we were able to do in training was look at what we could do to improve on our performance. We have been working on some specific areas to improve our scoring opportunities, and they should begin to shine through.
NO ONE likes to see another club in trouble, but Widnes look to be struggling and we have to be prepared to take advantage.
They have sacked their coach Graham West after nearly two years in charge, and when I saw the video of them against Hunslet they looked a very disjointed and disorganised outfit.
We can't rely on that on Sunday, we have to be ready to give them a good game however they play, but if they aren't at their best we must take full advantage.
FOR the youngsters who are still on school holidays the club's skills training awards programme is in operation again this week.
There are places available for 7-9 year-olds on Wednesday afternoon. Anyone who wants more information contact Jason Ramshaw at the club on 01535-213111.
We are also hoping for a bumper crowd at Cougar Park for our last home game, next Friday, against Featherstone, so make your plans now.
