DOUGIE LAMPKIN retained the World Trial title after the first round of last weekend's competition in Finland.
Lampkin, who is currently World, World Indoor and British trials champion and he held onto the world crown with a superb ride in the village of Kirkkonummi, just outside Helsinki.
He dominated the event on a tough course which was made more difficult by heavy rain which brought mud onto the rocks of the 15-stage event.
Although the title battle was over on Saturday celebrations were kept very low key as Dougie wanted a clear head for day-two of the contest. He followed up with an even better performance to give him 14 wins from the 16 rounds held so far.
This weekend he aims to celebrate with a top performance in Norway and will then concentrate on retaining both the indoor and British titles.
"Everything went perfectly," said a jubilant Dougie this week.
