Simon Ashberry previews a fund-raising event with a difference.
Cafe bosses hope to serve up an extra dimension to Bradford's music scene by launching a new venture.
They are running a new venue at Caf Kino - kicking off with a charity event called Orient Espresso this weekend.
The evening will run from 8pm to 3am at the caf based at the Arts Mill in Upper Parkgate, Little Germany.
And proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Marie Curie's Golden Daffodil Appeal.
Steve Molyneux, who is organising the event, said it would be the first of a series of regular live music and dance nights to be staged at Caf Kino, which can hold up to 500 people.
Orient Espresso will feature two separate rooms of music, with guests being able to alternate between the two.
In the live bands room, local acts who have agreed to play are Flat Back Four, Pico, Indiqa, Jon Gibbons of Egomania and Orchestre du Cafe. System Records DJs will finish the night off on the decks.
And in the specialist dance area, top DJs the Spawnee All Stars will mix it up with local favourites Ben from the Kwarme Collective, DJ Sly from Mayhem, Ben from Relief and Leon from Ska Heaven.
Steve, who is deputy manager at the venue's sister caf the Java in Great Horton Road, said: "I've had a wonderful response and all the bands and DJs have agreed to be there for nothing, which is brilliant."
The evening is part of a weekend of events to boost the Golden Daffodil appeal which is aiming to raise £5.2 million for a new Marie Curie centre in Bradford.
Java staff are also taking on the cast of Les Miserables at a football at Bradford University's sports ground on Sunday, and Steve is also planning a parachute jump.
Tickets for Orient Espresso are £3 each and are available in advance from the Java, Caf Kino, Club Oasis salon, Love Apple Caf and System Records. Alternatively, ring (01274) 733773. Limited number of tickets will also be on sale on the door.
