Rob Steiner looks set to leave Bradford City in a switch back to his native Scandinavia.

The Swede is today in Norway discussing personal terms with First Division club Stabaek after the clubs agreed a £200,000 fee.

Steiner appears to be surplus to requirements at Valley Parade with City having a plethora of strikers with chairman Geoffrey Richmond revealing that the striker recently turned down a loan move to Second Division Preston North End.

He added: "The club also agreed a £300,000 deal with Dutch side Ultrecht a couple of months ago but the deal fell through at the last minute."

Steiner, whose contract runs until next summer, spent three months on loan with City during the 1996-97 season before Chris Kamara signed the Swede from Swedish side Norkopping for £500,000.

Stabaek are fourth in the Norwegian First Division and through to the semi-final of the main cup competition.

Meanwhile, City boss Paul Jewell is preparing his side for tomorrow's visit of promotion favourites Bolton Wanderers.

The Bantams have lost their opening two games in the First Division although they are buoyed by the midweek Worthington Cup victory over Lincoln City.

The City boss has added John McGinlay, Ashley Westwood and Craig Ramage to his squad after the trio came through a reserve outing this week.

Stephen Wright's thigh strain has again ruled him out along with Stuart McCall (ankle) and Lee Todd (groin) although Jewell hopes the trio will be in contention for next Friday's clash with Crewe Alexandra.

Jewell said: "The injuries are starting to clear and with Nigel Pepper and Wayne Jacobs also on the way back the competition will be fierce, even to get in the reserve side.

"When that happens it will be a great feeling. It has been frustrating with the injuries we have had.Competition is what every side needs and that is just what we will have.

"Bolton are a good footballing side but before we can play our football we will have to battle."
