Bradford bosses are being given a helping hand to tap into multi-million pound export opportunities in Denmark and Belgium.

A partnership between two Business Links - Bradford and Calderdale & Kirklees - and the Department of Trade and Industry is behind a scheme aimed at small to medium-sized firms which are planning their first foray into exporting which will also help companies with limited experience increase their export potential.

The partners have organised a free event to launch the scheme called Export Explorer on October 6 at the Cedar Court Hotel in Wakefield.

The Export Explorer expects companies taking part to see how easy it can be to take the first steps to export success.

The briefing will also give firms a chance to sign up to Export Explorer visits to the two countries which cost £99 plus the cost of travel and accommodation and include a pre-visit meeting with the organiser, a briefing on the country, a summary of the local market for products or services and a list of possible contacts.

On the visit there will be an experienced exporter on hand to advise and help bosses and back-up from Foreign Office team. After the trip there will be advice on the next steps.

Francoise Joyce, export development adviser at Bradford's Business Link, said today: "The briefing will give companies a wealth of information. British companies are very popular in both countries and UK firms can find success in all sectors."

Neil Wilson is the regional Government Office representative at Bradford's Business Link. He said: "This programme will be very successful and any firms taking advantage of its opportunities are sure to reap rewards."
