Goalscoring midfield player Nigel Pepper will make his comeback in the reserves against Newcastle United at Valley Parade.

Pepper who has been out of action since he cracked his rib in a pre-season friendly at Hartlepool five weeks ago is named in a strong side for one of City's rare evening games in the Pontins League this season.

The side also includes striker John McGinlay, defender Ashley Westwood, midfield player Craig Ramage and left back Wayne Jacobs who have all been on the injured list recently, but skipper Stuart McCall and right back Stephen Wright are still under treatment.

McGinlay, Ramage and Westwood made their comebacks in the reserves at Lincoln City last week while Jacobs made a substitute appearance in the first team's 2-2 home draw against Bolton on Sunday. The reserves have a 100 per cent record, having won their first two matches.

The Newcastle side will include three of manager Kenny Dalglish's summer signings - Stephen Glass from Aberdeen, Bradford-born Carl Serrant from Oldham and Garry Brady from Spurs. Dalglish's son, Paul will also play along with Steve Howey, Philippe Albert, goalkeeper Lionel Perez and probably former City midfield player Des Hamilton.

Admission is £2 for adults and £1 concessions.

City chairman Geoffrey Richmond is expecting a sell-out crowd for City's next home match against Birmingham City next Monday. The match will kick off at 3pm.

He said Birmingham who are one of four First Division clubs with a 100 per cent record were anticipating filling their allocated accommodation.

"Supporters are urged to buy their tickets before the game," he said. "There are few more attractive games for us than this one."
