Bradford Dukes will have half their 1997 Elite League title-winning line-up in action when they take on Hull Vikings in a one-off clash a week tonight at Craven park (7.30).

Former world under-21 champion Joe Screen, Dave Walsh and Dukes' 1997 Rider of the Year Garry Stead have been confirmed.

And the rest of the team are mostly ex-Dukes - three-times British champion Andy Smith, fellow England international Sean Wilson and Oakenshaw-based England Under-21 international Andre Compton.

The final name in the team is Simon Cartwright, son of Ian, who skippered Dukes in the1970s at Halifax.

Dukes team manager Allan Ham said: "It is great to re-unite the Dukes, and particularly for our supporters, who, I am sure, will travel to Hull in numbers. We have had some great battles there in the past and this could be another."

Premier League Hull will have their ranks bolstered by former Sheffield kingpin Robbie Kessler, a German international.

They also include ex-Dukes Paul Thorp and Paul Bentley, ex-world finalist Alan Grahame - at 44 the oldest man in British speedway - and three of the most promising teenagers in the sport in Lee Dicken, John Wilson and Paul Lee.

Hull's manager is Eric Boocock, who, ironically, was part of the Halifax team that won the championship in 1966 - the last time Dukes won it prior to last year.

Ham's involvement with speedway this season has been confined to co-promoting at Belle Vue and an appearance as King's Lynn team manager at Belle Vue when Buster Chapman was busy tending the East Anglian track.
