Otley Athletics Club staged a joint relay with Ilkley Harriers at Timble and the mixed teams consisted of three members each of whom ran one leg on the country and one on the road with the distance for each leg approximately two miles.
Four evenly matched teams were selected and each team held the lead at some point of the race.
The decisive run came from Otley's Ian Fisher over the country on leg five when he pulled back a deficit of three minutes 14 seconds and converted it into a lead of just under three minutes.
With only one stage left Phil Robinson was able to fend off the chasing pack to clinch victory by two minutes eight seconds.
The winning Otley team of Ian Fisher, Phil Robinson and Brian Sweet achieved an aggregate time of 1.32.45 beating Colin Best, Dave Hainsworth and Tom Hannah's 1.34.53. Four teams finished within five minutes of each other.
Otley AC is a small, friendly club which welcomes runners of all abilities at training sessions at Otley RUFC on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tel 0113 2842572 for further details.
