IN front of a reasonable crowd made up of many people from Burley-in-Wharfedale, their Under-17's side won the Championship play-off fairly easily against Horsforth at Otley's ground on August 16.

It was a record 15th win for the Burley side.

Batting first, Horsforth never recovered from the early loss of their openers and continued to struggle against accurate bowling from Andy Wheeler, Andy Molloy and Rob Wheeler.

A stand of 25 between Scott McCullow and P Clayton raised Horsforth's hopes, but they collapsed to 53 all out.

Despite the early loss of Simon Seton, Burley batted confidently and the oldest and youngest of the three Wheeler brothers safely saw them home, Andrew scoring 26 and Chris 15.

This is the first trophy this season for Burley who are having a free season with the first team handily placed in the league and the third team appearing in the first ever Third Team Cup Final, hosted by Burley.
