Haworth resounded to the sound of chimes and cries on Saturday for the opening of its latest newsagent. Actor Eddie Caswell dressed up as a town crier to announce the opening of the Main Strret newsagent, Haworth Crier.
Villagers and tourists flocked to hear his cries which could be heard throughout the day. Mr Caswell, who lives in Haworth, has also starred on television in series such as The Bill and Grange Hill.
Newsagent owner Mike Carr says: "He was absolutely brilliant and had lots of people watching him and taking photos. It went down very well and it was a successful day in the shop. We were also really lucky because the weather was so good. I would like to say a big thank you to all the traders and the logo designer. I think our shop fits in really well with the oldy worldly style of Main Street."
The newsagent is situated on the site of a former painting studio and is the only one of its kind on Main Street.
