Two women were cut free by fire crews from the wreckage of their cars following a smash near Keighley.
Three people were injured when the two cars, a Volkswagen Golf and a Vauxhall Nova, collided in Harden Road at Long Lee, Keighley, at 3.45pm yesterday.
A passenger in the Golf, 24-year-old Georgina Hurst, of Bingley, suffered severe leg and abdominal injuries.
Later she was reported to be in a critical condition in St James's Hospital, Leeds.
The driver, a 23-year-old man from Long Lee, was treated for chest injuries and shock.
Marilyn Cook, 56, of Harden, driver of the Nova, received severe chest and back injuries.
Sub officer Eddie Preslan, of Keighley fire station, said it had been a difficult process to free Miss Hurst.
"We had to cut all the car away, the roof and everything because the door had been pushed in against her legs."
Witnesses to the accident are asked to contact the police 01535 617059.
