Golf: It could be a tight finish to decide the T&A Trophy winner this year.
It looks to be between West Bradford pair Paul Thomas, the Open champion on 46 points, and Darryl Berry, on 43, but after both made quarter-final exits in the amateur matchplay, Baildon's Ian Martin could still have a chance.
He has eight points to make up on current leader Thomas, but is guaranteed at least three more points in the matchplay and could add eight should he win the competition.
Winning the Open championship at Bingley St Ives gave Thomas a massive 15 points haul, but Berry has stayed in touch with consistent performances in virtually every counting event, including the Yorkshire amateur championship.
He faces West Bowling's Russell Simpson in his semi-final while the other tie pairs Keighley's Philip Wood and Bradford's Chris Goodison.
The final Inter-Union points will be available when Bradford face Teesside at Northcliffe on Sunday and Berry can narrow the gap to just a point in the absence of Thomas with a win in the singles.
There will also be points at stake in the Yorkshire Inter District team championship at Selby a week on Sunday, but as six of the top seven in the T&A Trophy points list are involved there should be little effect on overall positions.
Andy Brown, from Bingley St Ives is a late replacement for Wood, who is working abroad, for the Teesside clash. Bradford need to win to claim runners-up slot behind champions Sheffield.
