Holycroft is set to stay where it is.
On Tuesday councillors will be recommended to approve that the school does not move site, as proposed in April's initial plans. Holycroft is earmarked to undergo a significant change of character to become a primary school catering for pupils aged 4-11 plus nursery provision. It is set to have a standard admission number of 60 pupils and a capacity for 420 children plus nursery provision.
Under the initial proposal, the same plans applied but there was a recommendation to relocate the school to an unidentified site. However, there were concerns about whether or not the site for the new school would be accessible to the community.
In the final proposals, the council stated that a number of potential sites had been investigated but that land and property adjoining the existing school site would be sufficient to develop a new school at that location.
Holycroft head Sarah Kingston says: "We are pleased because we were afraid we would no longer be 'Holycroft' if we moved out of the area. this way we can retain our multi-cultural mix of children."
