A kind-hearted sister and brother have taken the plunge for a cancer charity which helped care for their cousin.
Emma Hurtley, ten, and her seven-year-old brother Joseph, took to the water for a sponsored swim in aid of the Candlelighters childrens cancer appeal.
The two youngsters, from Oakworth Road, Keighley, were inspired by the bravery of their cousin Jack Wayte, six, who was treated for cancer at St James Hospital in Leeds. They wanted to do something for the Candlelighters charity which raises money for the children's cancer ward.
The sponsored swim took place at Bingley Pool. Between them managed they managed to swim nearly 4,000 metres.
Emma, who is a pupil at Bront Middle School, Oak-worth, covered 3,000 metres whilst Oakworth First School pupil Joseph did an equally impressive 800 metres.
And with the backing of friends and family the youngsters have managed to raise £365 for Candlelighters.
Proud parents Margaret and Mark are full of praise for both Emma and Joseph. "It really is marvellous the way they have raised this money and we are all very proud of their achievement," says Margaret.
The family is also grateful to Mark's employer, Skipton Properties, which provided the children with sponsorship.
Jack is now in remission after his treatment.
and is recovering at home in Keighley.
