Talented youngster Amy Williams has come home triumphant after starring in a prestigious production contest.
Amy, 12, of Brook Row, Oakworth, recently took part in a production of Fiddler on the Roof in Buxton, Derbyshire, as part of the second International Festival of Musical Theatre at Buxton Opera House. After two weeks of high-quality shows, the cast of Fiddler on the Roof were proclaimed the winners of the contest.
Amy played the part of Shprintze, daughter of Tevye, in the famous tale of the clash of modern and traditional attitudes over arranged marriages. She sang, danced and acted in the performance.
She says: "I was really nervous beforehand because the stage was huge, but we did well and the adjudicator said afterwards that I was an 'actress in the making'. I hope to be an actress when I'm older. It's definitely the West End for me!"
Amy's firefighter father Aidan starred alongside his daughter as Mordcha the innkeeper. The pair were invited to take part in the competition after doing the production with Horsforth Grove Ama-teurs at Yeadon Town Hall earlier this summer.
This month Amy will start at her new performing arts school - Intake High School, at Bramley, Leeds.
