Harden Road at Long Lee was closed for two hours on Monday following a head-on smash between two cars.
Firefighters battled to free a female passenger trapped by her legs in the wreckage of a VW Golf GTI. The Golf had been travelling towards Keighley when the driver apparently veered on to the wrong side of the road where the vehicle collided with the Nova being driven in the opposite direction by a 56-year-old Harden woman.
The passenger in the Golf, a Bingley woman, sustained severe leg and abdominal injuries and is critically ill at St James's Hospital, Leeds. The driver of the Nova is being treated at Airedale Hospital for chest injuries and is said to be stable.
