The promised rain failed to materialise in any great quantity in the Craven Cricket League so there was a full set of fixtures played and completed, and one more issue was settled - Glusburn, for whom Richard Parkin hit a superb 165 and put on 203 with Derek Mosley, 90, are the Fourth Division champions.
As suggested last week the other three divisional champions will not be decided until this Saturday.
In the First Division the two protagonists, Embsay and Oakworth, were both in sparkling form again, coincidentally against the two relegated teams, Cononley and Gargrave respectively.
Cononley batted first at Shires Lane and were restricted to 113-7. Mark Iveson, 35, and John Naylor, 21, opened with 51, although it took them 26 overs. When those two had gone it was a struggle to reach 113, Scott Robinson taking 5-56.
Embsay lost a wicket in the second over with the score on nine, but that was the visitors' only success until the score had reached 103 when skipper Chris Davies was caught for 53. Duncan Bullough, 44 not out, ensured the eight-wicket success.
Oakworth were just up the road at Gargrave and dismissed the home side for 101 with Tim Buckle scoring 51 and George Rhodes 20 not out, Graham Rankin taking 6-56 and Michael Scarborough 3-23.
The Cure Hill side knocked off the runs for the loss of only one wicket with Steve Lilley scoring a fine 71 not out.
Haworth are guaranteed third place after their fine victory over at Fence. They restricted Pendle Forest to 142-7 with A Townsend scoring 53 and Peter Thackray 32. The Bronte side made light of their task and cruised home by eight wickets with Damian Rowell scoring 76 and Stuart Ratcliffe 54 not out.
Fourth-placed Carleton made the short trip to Bradley and received a sound beating. The villagers batted first and made a creditable 171-5 with Peter Wrathmell making 41 not out and brother John 30.
In reply Neil Andrews was in fine fettle as he stroked 103 not out to set up an eight-wicket triumph. Eddie Drake chipped in with 33.
Foulridge are fifth after beating lowly Cowling at Noyna. The visitors were invited to take first knock and struggled to 125-9 against some fine bowling by M Nawaz, 5-48, and J Lambert, 4-61. Neil Hargreaves top scored with 20. In reply the home side reached their target for the loss of three wickets with Ajmal Choudry scoring 73 not out and Tony Cocker 40.
Sutton entertained Upper Wharfedale and whipped them out for 77 with Gary Williams taking 6-27. The South Craveners recorded a seven-wicket win.
