THE Horsforth 10K on Sunday, September 27, is set to become the testing ground for aspiring half marathon runners who have entered Britain's biggest road race - The Great North Run on October 4.
Horsforth 10K Course Director Marc Springer said: 'Having secured a safer and improved course through the goodwill of the police and local residents the organisers were disappointed that the Great North had stolen Horsforth's traditional date.
However, by rescheduling their 10K to September 27 Horsforth has provided an opportunity for local runners to check their fitness levels before the marathon test.
With entries for the 10K at double last year's record the event will also provide competitors with an early taste of the big race atmosphere.
Entry forms for the Horsforth 10K are available from running shops, leisure centres or from Howard Roberts at 19, Victoria Grove, Horsforth, LS18 4ST.
