Captain Stuart McCall has reaffirmed his commitment to Bradford City after speculation had linked him with a move into management.

Sources in Scotland say First Division side Hamilton Academical are considering a move for the 34-year-old after manager Sandy Clark left the club.

However McCall, who was again in impressive form for City in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United at the weekend, said: "I did hear the rumours. But I am just concentrating on being at Bradford City and am desperate to play well for this club."

The Bantams could consider themselves unfortunate to come out of Saturday's Yorkshire derby with only a point after dominating large spells of the game.

It was a heartening response from the City side to last week's 3-0 drubbing at Ipswich Town.

And McCall believes the side must use it as the basis for a move up the First Division table.

He said: "I thought we played some great football and there were plenty of chances. To be honest though, anything was an improvement on Tuesday night. We went a behind to a very slack goal. But then we played them off the park and got two very good goals.

"Unfortunately they scored again. Graham Stuart, the man I was marking, had pushed on a bit and I failed to pick him up. It was even after that but we still had enough chances to get a win."

Despite failing to pick up all three points, McCall still believes that City can start stringing some results together.

"We must do well against Halifax and then we have a game coming up where we can win at West Brom. Then we have Barnsley and Port Vale so there is no reason why we can't put a run together.

"Against Sheffield, I felt we played a lot better than against Birmingham and yet we won that game but only drew this one. We were delighted with the performance but gutted with the result."

McCall's former team-mate at Rangers Stephen Wright also excelled on his first full game since the opening day and added: "I felt really good. I have had two full games and another as a substitute this week. My season has been stop-start but it was great to play 90 minutes.

"It is disappointing not to win though. If I could have scored to make it 3-1 then maybe it could have been difficult. I was hoping to put it through Andy Goram's legs.

"Everyone in the dressing room was upbeat because we can take a lot from it. The result is disappointing but we must look to build on that."

Meanwhile, City fans who have bought tickets for tomorrow's all-ticket Worthington Cup tie at Halifax are reminded that the away enclosure will be in the North Stand and not the South stand as printed on the tickets.
