Fire chiefs have confirmed that one fire-fighter has been sacked and four others suspended as an investigation into an allegation of rape at Ilkley fire station continues.
The disciplinary measures come as West Yorkshire Fire Service conducts an inquiry into claims involving part-time officers at the station in Little Lane, Ilkley.
An allegation that a woman was raped by fire-fighters was received by the Fire Service during the past month, and fire chiefs have now asked the police to look into the matter.
But a West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "No complaint relating to the allegations has so far been received by the police themselves.
"The initial complaint was made to the Fire Service, who are conducting an enquiry, and who have now asked us to look into it."
Jeff Leighton, secretary of the Fire Brigade's Union, confirmed that the more serious allegations were now in the hands of the police and that any other matters would be dealt with under Fire Service disciplinary regulations.
