Otley Athletic Club took part in the Yorkshire Six Stage Road Relay on Saturday at Thornes Park, Wakefield, on a course covering paths and pavements around the park on a four mile circuit.
From the off Otley's Ian Fisher took a commanding lead which he held to the changeover in a time of 18 mins 46 secs.
Neil Cayton took up the baton and though he tried gallantly to hold his place he was overtaken by Bingley's Colin Moore.
Neil handed over in a time of 19.50 to Chris Carver who had a steady run but lost a few places.
He completed his section in 21.35 before handing over to Andrew Robertshaw who also ran well but lost a place with his 21.16.
By this time Otley were in eighth place but Julian Mawson gallantly took up the chase and he did his circuit in 21.18 only dropping one place.
Then it was the turn of Dale Foster on the final leg. He took on the challenge in his customary fashion but was unable to hold off a faster finishing opponent and though he did a creditable 21.29
Otley finished in tenth place with an aggregate time of 2 hrs 4 mins 14 secs which was two minutes faster than last year.
Otley's B team finished well down the 40 strong field with Bingley the overall winners with a time of two hours.
Otley's B Team runners were Mick Jeffrey 21,42; John Armitstead 22.38; Graham Stead 24.07; John Straton 25.16; Jonathan Newman 23.44 and Ray Hawksby 22.28.
