Mrs Eva Argent celebrated her 102nd birthday this week. Eva, who moved into the Ingrow Green Residential Centre just over a year ago, celebrated the event with her friends and niece and nephew.
Born in Bradford, she moved to Stanley Road, Keighley, when she was nine. She lived there for 91 years becoming a well-known member of the community. She worked as a warper at Haggas' until retiring in the mid-70s.
A keen sports fan she went every week to watch Keighley Rugby League Club until 1945. She said: "I used to shout my head off." She was also a enthusiastic dancer, often going on holiday, going to the theatre and other arts. Eva has no children and was widowed when her husband, Billy, died suddenly in the 1930s.
