A THREE-YEAR-OLD Yeadon boy, Liam Hurst, who has a number of medical problems, is to benefit from an open day held by Rawdon firefighters at the Rawdon Station last Saturday.
Liam lives with his mum, Diane. His illnesses include hypermobile joints, asthma, delayed speech and an allergy to about 35 different foods that necessitate him being fed through a tube directly into his stomach in order to avoid acid reflux.
"Inspite of all these conditions, Liam is a terrific and determined little lad whose lifestyle could be improved dramatically with the help of a special wheelchair and computer," said Station Commander Richard Moxon.
The open day proved to be a success and more than £1,000 was raised.
This money will be shared between Liam and the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund.
There was a rescue from the fire tower and fires to a car and chip pan were put out. There were a variety of stalls and other attractions.
