A security guard was threatened at gunpoint in an armed robbery a Bradford company.
The guard was making a wages delivery at Field Packaging in Lidget Green yesterday afternoon when the robber struck.
Today police appealed for witnesses to the incident which happened as the Securicor van arrived at the Hollingwood Lane premises at 2.20pm.
The robber demanded cash and pointed the gun at the guard who dropped the cash box.
He ran off with the cash and escaped in a getaway car parked on Hollingwood Lane.
A police spokesman said: "No shots were fired and nobody was hurt although the security guard was obviously shocked.
"We can't say at this stage how much money was stolen but we are continuing our inquiries with the company."
The robber was described as a white male, 5ft 10in tall, medium build and about 40 years old with white hair which was possibly a wig. He was wearing silver-framed glasses, a three-quarter length white overall, a white hat with a peak and dark coloured jeans.
He escaped in a dark coloured E-registration Rover driven by a male accomplice.
The vehicle was later found abandoned in Necropolis Road near the junction with Cemetery Road.
The empty cash box was found in the grounds of St Bede's School in Heaton Road.
"We're hoping to hear from anyone who saw the Rover car before or after the robbery or anyone in the area acting suspiciously," added a police spokesman.
"Witnesses have spotted a number of cars in Cemetery Road at the time of the incident and we want anyone who was in that area around 2pm to contact us so we can eliminate them from our enquiries."
Anyone with information should contact Toller Lane CID on Bradford 376285.
