A multi-million pound bid to transform community and church facilities in Windhill is moving a step closer as co-ordinators await approval for planning applications.
If plans get the nod, the project will see the replacement of Windhill's community centre and the transformation of nearby Christ Church to provide community facilities as well as a place of worship.
The project, which would cost an estimated £2 million, was launched last year as a joint venture by the community centre and Windhill's Anglican and Methodist congregations, who worship together.
Economic development worker at Windhill Community Centre Kath Quinn told a neighbourhood forum meeting that the project was moving along slowly but surely.
She said: "We're working with the churches and the Anglican and Methodist congregation on the Windhill Futures Project to gain new resources for a new community centre and alterations to the church."
Mrs Quinn added the short-term aim of the Futures Project was to produce a community newsletter, to be distributed to homes every six to eight weeks. Anyone with news for the newsletter should ring Bradford 588831.
