Bodices are the subject of an exhibition running from tomorrow until October 4 at East Riddlesden Hall.
Flights of Fancy features machine-embroidered sculptured bodices set around airbrushed pictures painted by artist Diane Bates.
Diane, a senior lecturer in drawing and textiles at Bradford and Ilkley Comm-unity College, was inspired by a visit to Duffren Gardens in South Wales. She created the bodices with metallic threads, gold elastic cord, tissue, pleated metallic papers and hologram sequins. The materials were sewn into cold water dissolvable plastic then stretched on a wooden embroidery hoop and drawn on with a silver pen.
Diane's materials also include Christmas decorations, florists' cellophane, Pound-stretcher plastic snowflakes and B&Q industrial plastic tags.
The hall is open Saturdays 1-5pm, and Sundays to Wednesdays noon-5pm. Phone 01535 607075 for more information.
