War veterans in Keighley are being invited to watch the acclaimed new war movie Saving Private Ryan at the town's cinema. Former servicemen and their families can have a cuppa and a chat before watching a special screening next Wednesday at the Picture House.
The three-hour hit film, directed by Steven Spielberg, features a gruelling recreation of the D-Day landings. Picture House duty manager Roger Bartle urges veterans wishing to see the film to get in touch beforehand so he can reserve a table in the cinema's coffee bar. He says: "The film will be finished in time to get home before it gets dark."
Mr Bartle realises some veterans may not want to see a graphic re-enactment of wartime battles, but suspects others will welcome the chance. He stresses the 3pm screening on Wednesday at the North Street cinema is open to everyone. Phone 01535 602561 for details.
