Raucous rock band Terrorvision have made a last minute change to plans for an unusual midnight performance in Bradford.

The four-piece group had planned to celebrate the release of their latest album with a late night concert and record-signing session on Sunday at record chain HMV's store.

But HMV decided to cancel because of safety fears - and the city's Virgin Megastore has stepped in.

Terrorvision singer Tony Wright said: "We were really disappointed that it couldn't happen at HMV but we are delighted Virgin have given us the opportunity to perform at their store.

"We're really excited about it because we wanted to do something in our home town to mark the release of the new album."

The event will be by invitation only and the doors will open at 10.45pm on Sunday.

The band will play from 11pm to midnight followed by an hour-long session signing copies of the fourth album, Shaving Peaches, which is released on Monday.

A Virgin spokesman said 500 free tickets would be on offer on Saturday at the store during the day and in the evening at the Empress Pub and at the Club Rio night club.

HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said: "It's very regrettable but in the end we just felt that because of the size of the store we weren't able to go ahead with the event safely. We didn't know how many people would turn up and security is always our prime concern."

Terrorvision last played in Bradford when they included St George's Hall in their last major UK tour in December 1996.

Fans will be able to catch them at the Town and Country Club in Leeds on October 21. For tickets, ring (0113) 280 0100.
