A father-of-two convicted of being involved in a £210,000 armed robbery at a Bradford supermarket was today waiting to find out the length of his prison sentence.

After more than three hours of deliberation yesterday, a jury at Bradford Crown Court returned a unanimous guilty verdict at the end of Anthony Morgan's trial.

Morgan, 36, of Ramsgate Road, Manchester, had denied being part of a gang which carried out the terrifying raid on the Morrison's store at Five Lane Ends, Bradford, in July last year.

During the early morning robbery security officer John Riley was held hostage at gunpoint by two robbers, who were posing as motorcycle couriers.

Although Morgan was not specifically alleged to have been one of the robbers, the jury heard circumstantial evidence which linked him to the planning, organisation or execution of the raid.

Morgan's fingerprints were found on crash helmets left behind in the getaway van and new banknotes from the Securicor delivery were hidden in a sofa at his home, said prosecutor Tom Bayliss.

After returning its verdict the jury was told that a second man, also from Manchester, had admitted putting false number plates on one of the gang's getaway vehicles.

Recorder Malcolm Swift QC said he was adjourning sentence on Morgan so both men could be dealt with at the same time.
