Paul Jewell has pledged that his Bradford City side will not abandon their attacking instincts when they travel to leaders Sunderland tomorrow.

The Wearside giants have scored a phenomenal 18 goals in just five home games this season and lead the table on goals scored from Huddersfield Town.

Many sides visiting the Stadium of Light choose to try and frustrate Peter Reid's side, but with City having won five successive games, Jewell says his team travel in confident mood.

He said: "We know this game will probably be our ultimate test in the First Division. It will be a big crowd and many may see us as being lambs to the slaughter.

"But that is not the case. We are playing some good stuff at the moment and have started to string some results together.

"If we went to Sunderland and tried to sit back then we would be inviting trouble. Our aim is to win every game, and this one is no different.

"We have several attacking options, but the most important thing for us is that we must work hard. I believe that Sunderland are the hardest-working side in the division and that is why they are top of the league.

"We will definitely be turned over if we don't match them in work-rate."

City travel with no fresh injury worries from Tuesday night's 4-0 victory over Port Vale. The stomach bug which has been sweeping the club appears to be clearing up, although Craig Ramage is unwell at the moment.

The City boss said: "We gave the players Wednesday and Thursday off in the hope that we can shift this bug. On Tuesday both Lee Todd and Isaiah Rankin were struggling up to about 6pm, but thankfully they came through."

City's defence is probably in for its toughest test of the season, but with two clean sheets in the last three league games, Jewell is confident they will rise to the task.

He said: "I have been quite critical of our back four so far this season, so it is only right that I praise them when they do well.

"However, defending is a team game which starts up front, and I think everyone deserves credit for the two recent clean sheets.

"We have worked on a lot of things and they appear to be paying off."

Sunderland's ace marksman Kevin Phillips faces a late test on an akle injury which has kept him out for three games.
