Otley AC had their strongest ever team out on Saturday to compete in the Northern Six Man Road Relay at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium.
Ian Fisher led off with an excellent 20.22 over the four-mile circuit and was supported well by Neil Cayton (21.33), Chris Carver (23.36), Andrew Robertshaw (22.43), Julian Mawson (23.22) and Dale Foster (23.01).
A total cumulative time of 2hr 14min 37sec was over four minutes faster than the club's best ever time set in 1997 and the team also achieved the club's best ever placing of 32nd out of 85 starting teams.
Sunday was also a very busy day for Otley runners. The popular Horsforth 10k saw Ian Fisher finish in a creditable fourth place in just over 31 minutes.
At the time of writing, exact times are not known but Duncan Burgess, John Hawryszczuk, Graham Stead, David Fox, Phil Robinson, David Cattanach and Terry Flynn are all understood to have run very well.
Further afield, Tom Hannah ran a personal best of 3hr 08min 40sec in the Nottingham Marathon. Mick Hodgkinson ran 3hr 44min and much travelled club member Phil Williams also pounded the gruelling 26-mile course.
Not satisfied with just two races in two days, Ian Fisher also competed in the mainly off-road and challenging Burton Leonard 10k race on Sunday afternoon and won the race in 34.05.
Julian Mawson finished 11th in 37.25, closely followed by Mick Jeffrey who by winning the second male vet prize in 13th place in 37.31 also guaranteed the team prize for Otley. Phil Dean and Carol Armitstead both ran hard races to record 45.11 and 47.53 respectively.
Otley AC encourage other local runners to join them in training at Otley RUFC on Tusday and Thursday evenings.
