Otley'S Grove Hill Tennis Club has just completed one of the best seasons in the club's history. Two of their teams won championship titles, they played in two cup finals and are due to play in another final on Sunday.
The club is fairly vibrant at the moment being in the process of upgrading its floodlit facilities so that all four courts will be floodlit which will prove invaluable in the winter months.
The club's mixed A team won the Wharfedale League Division One with close rivals Ilkley finishing as runners-up. The team also reached the final of the Molly Fawcett Cup in which they were beaten by a strong Ilkley team.
The B and C teams also competed well finishing in the top half of Division Three of the Wharfedale League.
The club also won the Leeds and District Medley Division One for a second successive year and are also in the cup final which will be played at The Towers Tennis Club on Sunday, October 4.
The men's doubles team, after winning promotion from Division Six of the Yorkshire League in 1997, retain their status in Division Five for next season.
A junior coaching programme is run throughout the year and there are now 75 juniors over the age of five placed in coaching squads.
Anyone interested in taking up the game is welcome to go along to the club which is in Ilkley Road close to Otley Mills. There are squads suitable for all ages and standards.
Further information about the club can be obtained from secretary Hilary Dove on 01943 873764 or club coach Georgina Jackson on 01943 468752.
