Bradford's Call Centre Training Unit has proven a winner by finding 200 jobs for its trainees.
Ann Taylor, 32, from West Bowling, is the 200th trainee to find a job after her five-week course at the training unit in Neale Street. The Call Centre Training Unit has helped people win jobs with Abbey National, BT, Grattan, Yorkshire Water and ISA International.
Ann, a former dental receptionist, gave up work to bring up her son, but when he started school this year she decided to return to full-time work.
"The call centre training was perfect for my needs," she said. "It gave me an opportunity to train for something new, gave me confidence to find a job and was free.
"The course involved a variety of training running four days a week for five weeks and at the end of it I managed to get a job straight away which I am really enjoying." Ann is now a sales representative with Bradford-based ISA International at their offices in Little Germany.
The Call Centre Training Unit is part of Bradford Council's Regeneration Division, having been set up in response to the rapid growth of the call centre industry in Bradford.
The unit is a partnership between the council and Bradford & District Training & Enterprise Council. The TEC-funded courses are available to the unemployed over 25, including people the disabled.
The training covers telecommunications, customer service, team building and personal effectiveness.
