Company bosses have been forced to split their workforce over three sites after failing to find a permanent new home.

Some employees at the British Wool Marketing Board are unhappy about the move from the firm's current premises at Oak Mills in Station Road, Clayton.

The board is moving its 50 employees from the mill, which is due to be demolished to make way for 73 new homes.

It had hoped to house staff in a new site at Cleckheaton Road, Odsal. But the purchase of the site fell through at the last minute and now workers are being transferred temporarily to three separate sites in Bradford.

One employee, who did not want to be named, told the Telegraph & Argus, that the move had been a farce. "The move from Clayton was supposed to save money and staff costs but everyone thinks it's going to cost a lot more than the savings," he said.

"Panic has now set in with management because of the date - it's been a huge miscalculation."

But a spokesman for the board said today that the move to separate sites was only a temporary measure and it was hoped that a suitable single building in Bradford would soon be found.

"It's not ideal but in the circumstances we had no option. All three sites are more or less at the bottom of Thornton Road and within about a mile of each other and of course we have computer links," she said.

"The company's marketing department is moving to a building in Grattan Road and the registration and accounts sections are being relocated to separate sites in Thornton Road.
