Ilkley Juniors U-14's..1
Farsley Celtic..............3
The second round of the West Riding County Junior Trophy saw Ilkley have to forgo any possible home advantage, electing to play the tie at Farsley to try and avoid a fixture backlog.
With Steven Brown missing with 'flu, a shuffle of the pack gave Kristian Mazurke a chance up-front with David Tod dropping into midfield.
Ilkley struggled to get to grips with thw occasion and the home side to began to look extremely threatening. Dale Proctor and Peter Hibbert soon sorted out the early problems, hardly putting a foot wrong throughout the game. Midway through the half, Ilkley capitalised on the advantage they had gained as Thomas Davidson nipped in between keeper and defender to lift the ball into the net. This was no more than Ilkley deserved as only moments earlier a excellent shot on the turn by Kristian Mazurke crashed back off the crossbar.
Having to play up the slope in the second half, the boys showed tremendous fighting spirit as Farsley threw everything at them in search of the equaliser.
Man-of-the-match David Tod produced another top class performance working tirelessly alongside Mat Earnshaw and Tim Rogowski.
Tom Ross-Jones and Daniel Smith, picked up Manager's Points as both kept Ilkley's goal intact with goal-line clearances and finger-tip saves.
With ten minutes remaining, the resolute Ilkley defence was finally breached with Farsley grabbing the equaliser.
With the scores level, extra time finally killed off what had been an extremely courageous attempt to progress futher in the Cup as Ilkley's chances went agonisingly wide.
Farsely managed to take their chances to extend the winning margin to 3-1 at the finish.
Next week Ilkley are at Home to Bolton Woods - kick-off 12.15a.m.
Knaresborough Town .... 1
Ilkley U-12s .................... 1
ILKLEY switched their home fixture to Knaresborough as all the home pitches were called off due to bad weather.
Last season both games involving these teams proved to be very competitive and Sunday's game was no exception.
The first-half was evenly matched as each side fought for possession.
Ilkley worked hard to find a way through the Town's back five, with James Davidson and Josh Mitchel causing constant problems with their aerial crosses.
Ben Batters worked hard cleaning up at the back with Daniel Henderson clearing off the line just before half-time.
Knaresborough kept the pressure on and seemed to win most of the ball in midfield for the first quarter of an hour.
Ilkley started to get their passing game together at last and pushed forward more with Jonny Czternastek linking well with Richard Sharpe.
Ilkley's persistence paid off. With 10 minutes remaining, a good cross from Davidson was put in by Sharpe to give Ilkley the lead.
Within two minutes of the restart Town were level as the Ilkley back four stood still dreaming and the home side's striker went past all of them to equalise.
Good goalkeeping from Alex Fox kept out the home side to keep the score at 1-1.
This was a good performance from Ilkley but they are still only firing on three cylinders.
However, they do have potential. Match Points went to James Davidson and Ben Batters.
Next week the Under-12s are at home in the first round of the cup ko, 1.00m at Pateley Bridge.
Burley U-10's 'B'..................4
Ilkley Juniors U-10's 'B'.......4
UNLIKE the 'A' Team, this Ilkley side did not appear to have suffered from a half term layoff.
The visitors took an early lead through newcomer Adam Benson after a jinking run from Jonathan Stevens.
Ilkley goalkeeper Haydn Robinson took a knock and Alex Bailey took over in goal.
Ilkley doubled their lead through Benson and the Ilkley man then completed his hat trick after combining well with Stevens.
In the second-half Robinson returned and Burley brought on their main goalscorer from the A team.
Although Louis Bleazard defended well, the visitors could not prevent Burley reducing the deficit to 2-3.
However, Stevens immediately played the ball to Tim Peden to make it 4-2 to Ilkley.
There followed a period of midfield play but Burley made it 4-3 and then grabbed an equaliser.
Keeper Robinson then sustained another injury and Bailey took his place between the sticks once more.
Ilkley's best chance of winning the game was thwarted by the referee.
Having been awarded a free kick just outside the box in an extremely scorable position, the official adjudicated it had to be indirect.
Man of the match was Adam Benson.
Burley U-10's 'A'.................3
Ilkley Juniors U-10s A.......2
ILKLEY were without two of their leading strikers for this post half term game and their absence upset the balance of the team.
Following a two week break the boys had lost a little of the sharp edge they had shown in recent matches.
Burley took an early lead but Thomas Dakin's pass gave Richard Atkins the chance to level matters for Ilkley.
George Thompson was just wide with a couple of powerful shots and brought a good save from the Burley goalie.
At the other end Dean Henderson parried a fierce drive but was unlucky to see the rebound hit the back of the net.
Atkins had a shot saved and defenders Mark Coldwell and Alex Bailey kept the Burley forwards at bay.
The second-half began with continuous Ilkley pressure.
Dakin went close but it was Burley who scored again to make it 3-1, the player crashing home an unstoppable volley direct from a corner.
Man of the match Matthew Mould snatched a goal back shortly before the end to make it 3-2.
It was a game of missed opportunities for Ilkley who should have got something out of the match.
Ilkley Juniors U-9's 'B'.......... 1
Wyke U-9's 'B' ........................1
Ilkley failed to win for the first time this season in a close contest between two evely matched sides.
Chris Bagshaw went close early in the game.
Wyke missed a great oppotunity to take the lead when they shot wide with only Ilkley goalkeeper, Chris Lawson, to beat.
In the second half, Chris Bagshaw had a shot well saved before Wyke took the lead.
Ilkley battled well for the equaliser, which was scored by Chris Bagshaw after efforts by Chris Ettenfield and Paul Petchey were saved.
For his performance in the second-half left wing back Robert Hall was named Ilkley's man of the match.
Shipley U-13's............... 0
Ilkley U-13's..................1
After a short break Ilkley returned to league action and secured a hard earned victory at close rivals Shipley.
The game was evenly contested in all areas and with Shipley packing the defence Ilkley found it hard to find an opening.
The first quarter was a scrappy affair with Silverthorne and Dodsworth working hard in defence.
Ilkley pushed more players forward with Caddick producing most of the moves down the left.
Shipley began to look stretched for the first time and after good work by O'Donnell and Pearce the ball was fed through to Thompson who again showed why Ilkley are winning these close games with a superb strike high over the keeper into the roof of the net.
The second half saw Ilkley settle down and with the introduction of Lambert down the right Ilkley applied most of the pressure and with more luck could have increased their lead.
Ilkley can now look forward to next weeks top of the table clash with Eccleshill holdind a four point lead at the top.
Man of the match: James Thompson.
