We were all reasonably delighted last Thursday - on the eve of publication - as we had enjoyed a good production run.
On Friday morning my chin dropped.
On Page 34 the colour plates had been mixed up and a golden wedding picture along with two wedding photographs looked appalling.
Clothing which should have been blue turned out yellow and faces were a bizarre shade of purple. I began an immediate inquiry into what had happened, and the fault was traced. In all fairness, the production team accepted a portion of the blame.
They then promptly pointed out that whomever had sent the page for publication had made a basic error by not putting 'colour bars' on the page. These bars are used to put the four colour plates in the correct order. You can see them on many newspapers as dots, stripes or squares. They are on the bottom of the front page of the Keighley News.
My face then went as purple as those pictures on the page. I cannot tell a lie. It was I who had neglected to include the 'colour bars'.
We have reprinted the pictures again this week, and I apologise profusely for any embarrassment this may have caused.
