A YOUNG volleyball player who has reached the heights of the England squad now needs sponsorship to maintain her place at the top of her sport.
Prince Henry's Grammar School A-level student Tracey Cameron has decided that volleyball is the sport for her and she has gained selection for the England Under-18 junior women's squad.
This is after captaining West Yorkshire and Yorkshire in successive seasons.
Tracey's rapid rise up the ladder came after she was introduced to the sport by her teacher Simon Ince.
She went to volleyball fun sessions at Kirkstall and then started playing for Leeds Volleyball Club at Leeds University.
Tracey plays in the National Second Division with them, and as well as training with the women, also trains with the men's second team to improve her game.
Tracey is set for trips to France and Holland before Easter with the England team.
But she desperately needs some sponsorship after having had to give up her spare time job to concentrate on her training.
'I have spent over £300 in the last couple of months and it cost me £60 to travel to the England training session in Sleaford recently. I desperately need some help if I am to stay in the England squad,' she said.
Anyone who is able to offer Tracey sponsorship can contact her through teacher Sian Ellis at Prince Henry's Grammar School on 463524.
Tracey has tried other sports including hockey and football but says: 'Volleyball is definitely the sport for me. It is brilliant.'
Tracey sticks to a hard fitness regime and she hopes to get into the England Under-21 scheme.
Great Britain are not well enough regarded yet on the world scene to play in the Olympic Games at volleyball but Tracey hopes that one day - and not too late for her - they will be.
