Almost 70 people from across Keighley have already signed up for a day-long meeting with leading local politicians. They will discuss a wide range of issues at the town's Area Conference including crime, education, health, housing and the environment.
There is space for up to 30 more people to attend the free event, on Saturday, Nov-ember 14, at Keighley College. They will be able to meet Bradford council leader Ian Greenwood, Keighley MP Ann Cryer and Keighley Area Panel chairman Irene Ellison-Wood (the council's Keighley leader). The panel, a group of Bradford councillors who represent Keighley, is hosting the conference in a bid to discover the needs of local people.
Cllr Ellison-Wood stresses the get-together is for people of all ages, from all walks of life and all parts of the town. Everyone will have a chance to air their views about how the council is serving the town and what changes should be made.
Workshops will address more than 30 issues including play areas, job creation, crime prevention, security cameras, road repairs, housing and disabled access.
Comments of local people will be fed into the council's next Community Plan which aims to address the district's most pressing problems. Anyone who wishes to attend should contact area panel officers on 01535 618008 before the day.
to discuss which issues they are interested in.
