Mrs May Baldwin, who lived in Cullingworth for 70 years, has died aged 101.

She had been a resident at Haworth's Bronte Park Nursing Home for three years.

A lifelong Methodist Mrs Baldwin was a founder member of the ladies meeting at the Cullingworth Church where the funeral was held on Wednesday.

At one time she served on the committee of the village Over 60s Club.

Born in West Bowling, Bradford, she moved to Cullingworth in 1925 when she married her late husband, Abel.

The middle child of a family of seven she began work half-time in a Bradford textile mill at the age of 12. She spent mornings or afternoons in the mill and the other half day in the classroom.

She leaves a daughter, three grandsons and two great-grandsons.
