More than £1,500 was handed out to youngsters at last Friday's Danny Ryan Memorial Presen-tation Dance. Holy Family School, which organised the event at Keighley's Victoria Hall, donated £1,800 which was shared between seven beneficiaries of the Danny Ryan Fund.
The beneficiaries were: Jamie Croad, 12, who has spastic quadrapligia; Collette McColgan, eight, who has juvenile chronic arthritis; Liam Corey Kaine, eight, who was born with cerebral atrophy; Ellie Clymo, four, diagnosed with cancer of the liver with lung and bone secondaries; Rebecca Davitt, 12, who suffers from cerebral palsy; Bashir sisters, Shamaila, ten, and Saiqa, 13, who have both had liver transplants.
Eileen Ryan, widow of the late Danny Ryan, a former teacher at the school, presented the cash awards. Waiting tables were 20 Holy Family sixth-formers.
Head girl Emma Bird, 17, and head boy Sam Heselwood, 17, gave a vote of thanks after the presentations.
Holy Family deputy head Sean Gilligan says: 'We were really, really pleased with the event. Next year will be our 15th one and we are determined to keep it going. Great heart and courage can be taken from the beneficiaries and their families who make all the work involved extremely worthwhile.'
Nearly £1500 was raised on the night.
The memorial fund, set up in memory of former Holy Family deputy head Danny Ryan who died from leukaemia, hands out cash awards every year to sick or handicapped youngsters.
