A dispute over a pile of sludge has been sorted out.
In the middle of the problem was Morva Wray, 77, who lives in Park Lane, Keighley.
Last Thursday, about 8.30am, Bradford council contractors appeared at the drain on the pavement outside her house. "We saw a small white van outside," says Mrs Wray. "There were two men. One had a hose sucking up all the mucky water, until it came clear."
Assuming the dirt and litter from the drains would have been cleared away before the van moved on, she opened her front gate to have a look. "And there it was in all its glory," she says. "It was on the footpath."
Worried about the eyesore and potential hazard, she complained to the council. "They said it's a delegating job," she says. The council told her a follow-up truck usually comes soon after a drain is cleared to pick up the mess, but in this case it had failed to arrive.
Within two hours of the Keighley News approaching the council about the sludge, Mrs Wray rang us to say it had been cleared. "It was an oversight on the part of the gullymen," says a council spokes-man.
but has now been resolved,' a spokesman for Bradford Council tells us.
