Former Keighley Cougars favourite Martin Wood has been released by Sheffield Eagles - just seven months after featuring in their Challenge Cup final triumph over Wigan at Wembley.
Winger Lynton Stott, a one-time target for Super League newcomers Gateshead, has also been axed. Wood scored 62 points in 48 matches but struggled to hold down a regular starting slot last season.
Eagles coach John Kear said: "We have had to take this decision reluctantly because of salary cap pressures on the club but we believe both players could get Super League contracts elsewhere."
Wood may interest the Cougars although terms would be a stumbling block.
Keighley launch their Hall of Fame at Cougar Park tomorrow night with the investiture of the first two players, Norman Foster and Terry Hollindrake.
All past and present fans, players and officials are invited to attend and will get the chance to choose future Hall of Fame entrants.
The event starts at 8.30pm and admission is free.
